bagels and peace

bagels
Pumpernickel bagels. Nothing reminds me more of Saturday mornings with my dad when I was growing up, than a toasty warm pumpernickel bagel with cool cream cheese, perfectly sugared & creamed coffee and the newspaper.

My Pop’s favorite, pumpernickel bagels were just called “bagels” in my home when I was young. I think it was the only kind of bagel I even tasted until I was a teenager.

I was thinking about him this morning, I got up early and went to the closest bagel shop that has pumpernickel, picked up a half dozen and immediately put each one in a separate sandwich bag – just like my dad would do on Fridays on his lunch break.

The rest of my simple morning was spent eating a bagel on my porch, drinking coffee, and reading my kindle (it’s not the newspaper but it’s close) while Josh slept in after his late night delivering pizza.

This is my peace. What’s yours?

England…it’s what’s for dinner

We did it. We had it. We did beans on toast for dinner (I think it was breakfast time in the U.K.)

We scooped the beans on the toast pieces before we ate them, but I don’t think this is going to become a thing for us. Still, new things are always worth trying! However, I think I’ll stick with scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and coffee – that’s Josh’s specialty.

Pho-nominal Date Night

So with the recommendation of a half dozen of our friends, the hubs and I went to Pho Hoa Restaurant in Tamarac the other night to officially try Pho for the first time. We both got stake Pho, and it was AMAZING. Not to mention the service was insanely fast. Here’s a glimpse of our time there.

Seriously, it’s so worth it. Only about $9 a person and it was a HUGE serving. Make sure you check out Pho Hoa next time you’re near Tamarac!

Bad day fancy snack

Okay, so sometimes when I’ve had a stressful day, I like to have this for dinner, or lunch, or breakfast. It’s not really anything earth shattering, but the first time I ever had it was at my bridal shower and it always seems like fanciest snack in the whole world to me. It’s a baguette, apricot jam, and sharp cheddar. It is SO delicious, like, words cannot describe, so I’m not going to try and make them.

Pad Thai

padthaifomtobuPad Thai is delicious. Just the thought of pad thai with sriracha gets people out of bed in the morning. People = me. There’s a Thai place in Coral Springs, FL near our apartment called Tobu Thai & Sushi, that has the best pad thai I’ve ever EVER had. If you’re in south Florida go check it out and get the chicken pad thai! Josh recommends the gyoza and the JB tempura roll.

Seriously, order. They deliver.

Saturday Morning Breakfast

pan_breakfast We recently had our amazing friends the DeCarmo’s over for Saturday morning breakfast. The husbands decided to celebrate the occasion by drinking sparkling wine, and Liz took a panoramic photo of all the food. It was a great time, I tapped into my mom circa 2004 and made tater tots with italian seasoning instead of hash browns. They’re delicious.
