I feel so blessed that the girl who adopted Walter sends us updates and photos. Walter has settled into his new home and has siblings to play with all day. We miss him so much, and wish that we had been in a different position in life when we found him, so he would have been able to stay with us forever. He probably doesn’t remember us, he’s having a blast and is as happy as a dog who lives on 5 acres is supposed to be.
So, we just get to keep on missing him. I know he came to us for a reason. We were able to love on him like crazy, and pay for/administer the medication that got him back to being healthy and happy, while he gave me such great company during a time I felt very lonely. So here’s to Walt, the best dog ever and to Amanda of Oklahoma for giving him a great place to retire.
Walter forever.

The Apartment 3 months later: Walter
Perhaps the biggest challenge of all was finding this sweet sweet bud. He was wandering the streets and we saw him inches away from getting hit by a car. We stopped, picked him up, and took him home. We’ve searched high and low for his owners, scanned him for chips, no such luck. He also had a crazy advanced ear infection and was bone thin. We’ve had him and had been fighting his ear infection for about two months. The vet had him on new ear drops every other week and he HATES having drops put in his ears. Finally, he kicked the infection and is healthy pup once more. He’s finally up to his lowest acceptable weight of 73 POUNDS and never leaves my side all day when I’m working. He has some major separation anxiety though, (he’s had some bad experiences in his four years of life) so we end up staying in more than I would like. He’s so big and really deserves a big yard to run around in, so we knew we couldn’t keep him and were looking for a permanent home for him. I can tell you though, his sweet steady affection for me and his OBSESSION with Josh has pretty much made me a dog person. I know. I know. After months and months of looking, we think we have finally found him a new forever home about 7 hours north in Oklahoma. The girl who contacted us has 3 other dogs, and lives on 5 acres. It’s going to be really hard to let him go. I think all my biological clock hormones have zeroed in on this sweet guy, he’s definitely become my “baby” during his stay. In a few weeks Josh is going to drive him up to his new home in Oklahoma. I’ll keep you updated.

Isn’t it nice…
Isn’t is nice to have someone who gets up with you at 3 am when you have a headache and can’t sleep? He just relaxes on the love seat, content to be hanging out. I’ll tell ya, this guy is making me into a dog person…but more on him later.

I promise…
I promise this won’t become a blog where I only talk about my (precious little baby) cats. However, you’re here… so you should look at this magic. I love my husband.
Could you just die?

Kittens and Babies and Everything Nice
Well, last night Josh and I went and adopted two little baby kittens, they are brother and sister and so adorable. After MUCH back and forth, we named them Boba (the boy) and Prim (the girl)…yes, we named the boy after Star Wars and the girl after the Hunger Games, so what?
Anyway, Josh and I may have only dated for eight months before we got married, but I’ve known him for several years. I realized last night, however, that in all those years I’d known him it had always been in the same type of situations and not one involved the care of animals or babies or anything helpless. So, last night I saw my husband take on the role of caretaker for the first time.
My mother (who is full of wisdom) encouraged us to get a pet in order to defer the desire to have a baby which has started to occur in me lately. I’m almost twenty-five it was bound to happen sometime.
So we get home with our new little babies who weigh less than three pounds combined and I watch Josh take to these kittens like a fish to water. Now, taking to kittens isn’t hard to do as they are the most adorable little things ever, but he took to feeding them, scooping the litter box, cleaning Boba (he is a messy little eater) and all the other not so fun aspects that come with having pets.
So my mom’s theory pretty much becomes void at this point. I have never been more certain that I picked the right husband or that he will be a phenomenal father. Instead of stemming my baby cravings, seeing all this had the opposite effect. I can’t wait to see him interact with our children some day, but I know it’s not the time for that yet.
So, ladies and gentlemen, our furry little babies: Boba(fett) & Prim(rose)
Eeeeeeek!
