Photo Ledge === Wall Art

imageI wont sport with your intelligence by telling you how to screw two 1×2’s together at a 90° angle. It’s pretty straight forward, but then again, I didn’t actually have do it. Handy handsome husband perks, you know?
imageimageAnyway, for about $20 of wood (we had the stain & screws on hand) we made two 7 ft. long frame ledges to go above our standing desk.

Josh got 4 – 8ft 1″x2″ pieces and cut a foot off of each, stained, sealed, and screwed them together. Then, he screwed those into the wall above the desk.

I’m so pumped about how this turned out. I love the way the letters shadow the wall when the overhead light is off and our work lamps are on.

This whole project ended up costing about $65. $45 for the letters (found on clearance at Joann’s for $3 each) and $20 for the wood. Not bad given how much wall it covers.

Just like that, this has become my mantra for my work life and really, many other aspects of my life as well. I’ve messed with the spacing on the letter a few times a day for many many days. Probably will continue to do so. World without end.

Work hard & be nice, little babies. Until next time…

Coming soon: an office update

A few nights ago I found these cardboard letters on clearance at Joannes for $3 each. (15 letters = $45) They have a chalkboard front but I’m not sure I’ll use it. I’ve been wanting to put “Work Hard and Be Nice” on the wall above our long double desk in the office for a while, but wasn’t sure how I would go about it. I was thinking of doing a painting, but when I found these, it clicked. Josh is going to build me two super simple photo ledges for the letters to sit on. I can’t wait! I’ll show y’all when it’s done.

We’ve been at the new apartment for a little over 3 months now so I know it’s long overdue for a house tour. That will also be coming soon.

Free Download: Antique Map

In my old apartment I had an antique map of Auckland hanging in four 8×10 frames. I found the large image on the inter-nets, grabbed it, cut it into four 8×10 pieces and printed it on regular computer paper. It was a low cost art option, but oddly enough became my favorite piece in the room. So anyway, I want to share this with all of you, in case you’ve got a blank wall that you’re looking to fill. Just grab four 8×10 frames and slap these bad boys in there.

This is what it will basically look like when it's hung, making your wall look all snazzy!

This is what it will basically look like when it’s hung, making your wall look all snazzy. See below for the downloads.

Here are the four downloadable pictures, click on each of the four sections listed for each 8×10 image, then just right click and save the pictures. Then frame or pin up on the wall: Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right.

Hope you like it!
