Dressing Josh

So I have this (not very) deep, (not very) dark, (not very) secret. I occasionally try to recreate Men’s Fashion pins with Josh as my model. Most of the time he’s better looking than the models anyway… Here are some of the instances.

He’s seriously, SUCH a good sport. Does anyone else dress their husband like this? I can’t be the only one…

The First Husband [100 word book review]

The First Husband: A Novel by Laura Dave

My 32nd book of the year, The First Husband, is the first Laura Dave book I’ve read but it certainly will not be the last. Our narrator (main character) has this amazingly relatable insight and perspective. There’s a big event  in the first chapter and the book keeps up that pace. Though there was a point where I yelled at Josh that this book was too much like real life, because I didn’t think that Annie (main character) going to have a happy ending.  The ending however, did not let me down, and I think you all would enjoy this story.

I really did love this book. I know I’m into a book when I complain to Josh about it the same way I would complain if something was going wrong in my own life. God Bless that man he listens to me as if any of matters.

If you read this one, come back and tell me what you thought.

Roasted Sausage Mix

The other day I decided to try my hand at this recipe from Lila’a Apron. I changed the recipe a bit to use what I had on hand, and added Mrs. Dash steak seasoning mix because it makes any roasted potato worth it. Josh and I decided to call this kebab bowls, because all the ingredients could go on a kebab…and I served it in a bowl…we’re remarkably creative namers. God help our children.

chop up red potato then add mrs. dash and olive oil

chop peppers and onions and add those too then add olive oil and salt

350 degrees for 45 minutes. This meal taught Josh that he doesn’t hate banana peppers…an important lesson, I think.

Let me know how yours turns out!

Apartment Patio Improvements

I’ve decided it’s time to paint the patio furniture! Now, by “furniture” I mean the two black metal folding chairs that have always been around this apartment, I think they came from Target for $10 and the black metal folding table that my husband and I took off my in-laws front porch one day. [Sorry John & Patricia! It was Josh’s idea!] They weren’t using it, it’s all okay.

allnow everything is painted and getting rained on daily (welcome to hurricane season in south Florida).

Not a flawless paint job, but I LOVE the colors, and I have new place for my lantern! [Thank God for spray paint] What do you think?

Saturday Morning Breakfast

pan_breakfast We recently had our amazing friends the DeCarmo’s over for Saturday morning breakfast. The husbands decided to celebrate the occasion by drinking sparkling wine, and Liz took a panoramic photo of all the food. It was a great time, I tapped into my mom circa 2004 and made tater tots with italian seasoning instead of hash browns. They’re delicious.

One of my favorite poems

I love this poem by E.E. Cummings. It’s so sexy and unique and makes me think of Josh everytime I read it, so I thought I’d share it with y’all.

i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric furr, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh….And eyes big love-crumbs,

and possibly i like the thrill
of under me you so quite new
-E.E. Cummings

What’s your favorite poem?

Roasted Asparagus: Best Snack Ever

Next time you’re craving a little salty snack, instead of reaching for chips, try roasting some asparagus. It’s crunchy and when you roast it with a little olive oil and salt, it will become your favorite, I’m sure.
photo 1Lay out the asparagus on a baking sheet, drizzle with oil and salt it up .
photo 3Roast (which for those of you who don’t know – means put in the oven) at 350 for 15-20 minutes (if you preheat) or 25-30 minutes if you don’t.
photo 2Then, scoop them all up
photo 4Put them on a plate
photo 5Enjoy as a snack while you read magazines with your cat. Or…you know, while you do whatever, everything after the roasting of the asparagus completely up to you.
