Today my lovey love love-boo boo bear-sweet baby angel dinosaur face turns 27. I’ve known him since we were both 21. It’s crazy how life can go by fast and slow at the same time. I’m so happy that I’m your wife, Josh. I love that we can drive each other COMPLETELY insane and laugh about it 5 minutes later. You’re my best friend, you’re my favorite man in the world and I’ll love you on every birthday you have until I’m not breathing. Thanks for always testing out ages for me for a few months so I know what to expect. You’re the best.
Well, I made a promise and I have certainly tarried with the deliver of it, but now here it is. This post is part of a series on what we did to the apartment. View all the posts here. You remember the apartment when we moved in. And we spent the first two months really setting up shop. One of our very best friends moved to Austin shortly after we did, and was looking for a short term and affordable place to rent; the perfect answer was our second bedroom. So, our “formal dining” room became my new office, we always have our friend around and it’s worked out perfectly. On today’s edition of “The Apartment 3 Months Later” we are taking a look at our porch swings.
Our “back porch” is about 10 square feet of cement and doesn’t have much going on. We tried keeping some things out there, but sadly, they were stolen. The only storage space out there is where the washer and dryer hook up. We weren’t really sure what we wanted to do. I didn’t want to risk buying some cute patio furniture and having it stolen. So, I decided I wanted classic swings, so we could sit out there and gently rock on our two swings and talk about our day. We got about 45 feet of rope and a 2 x 10 board and then I sat inside fanning myself and being fed grapes while Josh labored away (okay not really, but I feel that way when he’s working hard and I’m not). Like everything Josh does, it came out perfectly. So now, we swing – and it’s the cutest darn thing you’ve ever seen.
Just a few miles east of downtown Austin there exists an oasis of delicious food vegan called Counter Culture. I’ve been vegan sporadically during different parts of my life and vegan food holds a very special place in my heart. So, the other day Josh took me on a wonderful date night to this amazing restaurant. We both had the basil lemonade that they make with basil but they grow in their own garden. I have a raw version of vegan ravioli with a vegan Cesar salad and roasted root vegetables. Josh had an vegan version of what they called baked “chicken fried steak” but it looked more like meatloaf with smashed lima beans (sounds weird but was delicious) all covered in delicious vegan gravy. We finished our night out by splitting a piece of raw avocado vegan key lime pie. Our waitress was the cutest thing you’ve ever seen and super knowledgeable about everything vegan and especially about everything on the menu. So, if you’re ever near Austin and jonesing for some amazing raw and/or vegan fare make your way over to Counter Culture at 2337 E Cesar Chavez St.
New art up on the blank short bedroom wall. I’m obsessed with this quote. The beauty and simplicity of love expressed well. Thanks, Kinsey! You can get this print for free here.
Isn’t is nice to have someone who gets up with you at 3 am when you have a headache and can’t sleep? He just relaxes on the love seat, content to be hanging out. I’ll tell ya, this guy is making me into a dog person…but more on him later.
I’m beyond excited to announce that my sister, who runs this amazing Etsy store, that I talk about a lot, is moving to Austin! My three nieces, adorable nephew, awesome brother in law and SISTER will live just 30 minutes north of us now! Basically you can expect a lot more heart stopping photos like these in the near future.
I’m so grateful for a husband who loves these babies as much as I do. I can’t wait to see them grown up and become even more awesome.
Waking up on the cutest sheets at our friends, Liz and LaRonne’s house this morning. I have about 5 more quiet minutes before we have to get up and pack. We’re heading back to Texas late this morning. Back to work for us both tomorrow morning.
The wedding yesterday was a huge success and when I wasn’t crying my eyes out, I was looking around and thinking how the whole thing needed to be on Pinterest. Today, Josh and I are relaxing and seeing some friends. Tomorrow it’s back to Austin and then on Tuesday it’s back to reality. Happy Sabbath everyone!
xoxo,
Adora
Today Josh and I pack up and head back to south Florida where my dearest friend is going to commit to the love of her life and we’re all going to drink and dance and celebrate love. I’m SO excited. Keep an eye on Bri’s blog for wedding pics and amazing posts about her new life in San Francisco!
